1997-04-29 - What Color is Your Paint?

- - - - - - -

Hi everyone! First, about today's devotional. A friend of mine, Sandi, has graciously agreed to fill in for us when one of us is out of town, sick etc. Today is her first devotional with us! Also, Tim is back! PTL!! His e-mail problems are behind us, so beginning next week, look forward to receiving his devotionals on Mondays and Tuesdays as before. I will move my topic with verses to Sundays. Meanwhile, enjoy Sandi's great devotional! : )

Hebrews 12:2 … "Looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God." (KJV)

I read something once that touched me...here is a paraphrasing..."a person's personality starts out like a bucket of white paint. Everything that happens to us along life's road adds color.

Seeing a wonderful sunset adds a drop of lavender, a best friend can add a delightful shade of blue.

Pain always adds red … no matter how much of the other colors you add, there will always be that red, overshadowing everything and tainting the rest of the things we see and hear."

Written by a secular writer, she didn't know that once you add the Blood of Christ, the red from His pain has the power to turn the red of our pain white as snow to color that bucket of paint a beautiful color again

Oftentimes, we as Christians forget that when we accepted Christ as our Savior, His blood covers all sins, all memories, everything that has happened in our lives. Too often we live under the shadows of the past.

When we accept Christ, though, the paint is made brand new, fresh … completely white again. Looking unto Jesus, we repaint the future history of our lives.

Our new decisions, based on God's word, and the runner who ran before us, now have the capability to always be the purest white.

What color is your paint??
