Westminster Theological Seminary 1997-09-09 - Love of Jesus Christ

Galatians 2:20: I have been crucified with Christ; and it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the (life) which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me, and gave Himself up for me.

“There have been very remarkable manifestations of love in some of the saints, as in the apostle Paul, the apostle John, and others; but the love to men that Christ showed when on earth, as much exceeded the love of all other men, as the ocean exceeds a small stream.” Jonathan Edwards

“The lawyer can deliver his client but from strife, the physician can deliver his patient but from sickness, the master can deliver his servant but from bondage, but the Lord delivereth us from all.” Henry Smith

And I am convinced that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. Romans 8:38,39

“There is no higher priority in the believer’s life than to delight himself in the love of Christ.” Maurice Roberts, (I just quoted someone who is living, be amazed)

“The distinguishing mark of a Christian is his confidence in the love of Christ, and the yielding of his affections to Christ in return.” C. H. Spurgeon

Greater love has no one than this, that one lay down his life for his friends. You are My friends, if you do what I command you. John 15:13,14

And walk in love, just as Christ also loved you, and gave Himself up for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God as a fragrant aroma. Ephesians 5:2

Soli Deo Gloria,
Tim
