[e-Devotionals]1997-10-05 - Our Lord the Comforter

My prayer is that you will meditate on these verses today and find comfort in our Lord. All verses today are from the Holy Bible, New Living Translation, (Wheaton, IL: Tyndale House Publishers, Inc.) 1996.

Psalm 86:17 Send me a sign of your favor. Then those who hate me will be put to shame, for you, O LORD, help and comfort me.

Isaiah 12:1 In that day you will sing: "Praise the LORD! He was angry with me, but now he comforts me.

Isaiah 66:13 "I will comfort you there as a child is comforted by its mother."

2 Corinthians 1:3 All praise to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. He is the source of every mercy and the God who comforts us.

Isaiah 35:10 Those who have been ransomed by the LORD will return to Jerusalem, singing songs of everlasting joy. Sorrow and mourning will disappear, and they will be overcome with joy and gladness.

Isaiah 40:11 He will feed his flock like a shepherd. He will carry the lambs in his arms, holding them close to his heart. He will gently lead the mother sheep with their young.

Isaiah 51:12 "I, even I, am the one who comforts you. So why are you afraid of mere humans, who wither like the grass and disappear?

Lamentations 3:22-23 The unfailing love of the LORD never ends! By his mercies we have been kept from complete destruction. Great is his faithfulness; his mercies begin afresh each day.

Luke 7:13 When the Lord saw her, his heart overflowed with compassion. "Don't cry!" he said.

John 14:1 "Don't be troubled. You trust God, now trust in me."

John 16:33 "I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world."

Matthew 11:29-30 "Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke fits perfectly, and the burden I give you is light.”

Revelation 7:16-17 They will never again be hungry or thirsty, and they will be fully protected from the scorching noontime heat. For the Lamb who stands in front of the throne will be their Shepherd. He will lead them to the springs of life-giving water. And God will wipe away all their tears.

Slow me down Lord, calm my mind, calm my spirit Lord, slow me down to rest in Your love. Take my burdens Lord, my yoke is so heavy and yours is a perfect fit. Slow me down Lord, comfort me in Your loving arms. Slow me down Lord, give me Your peace. Slow me down Lord, so I can feel Your mercy and Your grace. Slow me down Lord, so I can feel Your presence. Slow me down Lord, so I can fully express my gratefulness and gratitude for what You have done and do for me. Slow me down Lord, so I can fully realize what an awesome, loving God You are. Slow me down Lord, so I can focus on You and not the world. Slow me down Lord, so I will repent of and confess my shortcomings to you. Slow me down Lord, so I can feel Your forgiveness. Slow me down Lord, slow me down, in the name of our Lord and Savior Christ Jesus, Amen.
