During this season when we celebrate the birthday of the Prince of Peace,
I thought it was appropriate to take a look at some of what the Bible has
to say about peace, both peace between believers and God, and peace among
(Isa 9:6 NNAS) "For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to
us; And the government will rest on His shoulders; And His name will be called
Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace."
(Luke 2:12-14 NNAS) ""This will be a sign for you: you will find a baby
wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger." 13 And suddenly there
appeared with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and
saying, 14 "Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace among
men with whom He is pleased.""
(John 14:27 NNAS) ""Peace I leave with you; My peace I give to you; not
as the world gives do I give to you. Do not let your heart be troubled, nor
let it be fearful."
(John 16:33 NNAS) ""These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you
may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have
overcome the world.""
(Col 3:15 NNAS) "Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, to which
indeed you were called in one body; and be thankful."
(Acts 10:34-37 NNAS) "Opening his mouth, Peter said: "I most certainly
understand now that God is not one to show partiality, 35 but
in every nation the man who fears Him and does what is right is welcome to
Him. 36 "The word which He sent to the sons of Israel, preaching
peace through Jesus Christ (He is Lord of all)-- 37 you yourselves
know the thing which took place throughout all Judea, starting from Galilee,
after the baptism which John proclaimed."
(Rom 5:1-2 NNAS) "Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace
with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom also we
have obtained our introduction by faith into this grace in which we stand;
and we exult in hope of the glory of God."
(Gal 5:22-23 NNAS) "But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience,
kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control;
against such things there is no law."
(Phil 4:6-7 NNAS) "Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer
and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.
7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will
guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus."
(Mark 9:50 NNAS) ""Salt is good; but if the salt becomes unsalty, with
what will you make it salty again? Have salt in yourselves, and be at peace
with one another.""
(Rom 12:18 NNAS) "If possible, so far as it depends on you, be at peace
with all men."
(Heb 12:14 NNAS) "Pursue peace with all men, and the sanctification without
which no one will see the Lord."
(Eph 2:14 NNAS) "For He Himself is our peace, who made both groups into
one and broke down the barrier of the dividing wall."
