Many of us are spending time in reflection during this period of Lent. Just
as with everything else in our lives, our thoughts belong to God. Today we
will look at some passages that relate to our thought life.
Philippians 4:8 (RSV) Finally, brethren, whatever is true,
whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely,
whatever is gracious, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy
of praise, think about these things.
Psalm 77:12 (RSV) I will meditate on all thy work, and
muse on thy mighty deeds.
Psalm 119:15 (RSV) I will meditate on thy precepts, and
fix my eyes on thy ways.
Isaiah 55:7 (RSV) Let the wicked forsake his way and the
evil man his thoughts. Let him turn to the LORD, and he will have mercy on
him, and to our God, for he will freely pardon.
Haggai 1:4-6 (RSV) Now this is what the LORD Almighty
says: "Give careful thought to your ways. You have planted much, but have
harvested little. You eat, but never have enough. You drink, but never have
your fill. You put on clothes, but are not warm. You earn wages, only to
put them in a purse with holes in it."
Proverbs 14:8 (RSV) The wisdom of the prudent is to give
thought to their ways, but the folly of fools is deception.
Proverbs 15:26 (RSV) The LORD detests the thoughts of
the wicked, but those of the pure are pleasing to him. A greedy man brings
trouble to his family, but he who hates bribes will live.
