2009-07-24 - Hiding
Justin, my 14 month old son, will hide from us. He simply ducks behind anything nearby or scoots around a corner. Then a moment later he pops up to surprise us with his laughter and smile. What's really funny is when he is in plain sight with only his eyes or face hidden behind a pillow or some such thing. I remember my older son, Jordan, did the same thing when he was younger. Adam and Eve tried this same thing. They tried to hide their sins behind some leaves.
Genesis 3:7 - And the eyes of them both were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together, and made themselves aprons.
We should realize we cannot hide from God just by averting our eyes or putting good deeds out in front of us. God knows everything even those sins that we try to hide from him. He knows even our innermost thoughts. We try to hide ourselves and so much of what we do from God. Whether it's from fear, shame, regret or whatever, we need to quit hiding and realize the only way to take care of the sin is to bury them in the blood of Jesus. Humbly approach God and ask him to forgive you, repent with a true heart and ask Him to strengthen you to resist those same temptations the next time. Don't hide the problems from God, throw them at his feet in prayer and ask him to take care of them. Trust him fully to meet that need.
