[CF Devotionals] 2010-09-28 - Choosing a Route

As I've probably mentioned before, I'm known among some of my friends as the honors graduate who can't find her way out of a box. God has been very generous to me, but for whatever reason, He decided not to give me any sense of direction at all. Ergo, I have to lean on family and friends who do have a high spatial intelligence IQ. This can become confusing, at times!

For you know how it is. You can send five different people to the same destination, and each one will take his/her own route - all equally certain that their own routes are the fastest, the best, the most scenic, the least expensive, the safest etc. Truth be known, usually it's "six of one, half a dozen of another." It really doesn't matter much, most of the time.

But there is one destination for which there is only one route. In these days of "political correctness," even some Christian churches have put aside the belief that Christianity is the only way. I have heard church leaders making comments such as, "we don't have the right as Christians, to tell someone else that their belief is invalid. Their way to God is just as valid as ours." For certain, we should love everyone - no matter their belief system, and we should pray for their relationship with God. If they need help, and it's within our ability, we should try to help them (food etc.). But never at the expense of compromising our faith in Christ. Either you believe what the Bible says, or you don't. And the Bible is very clear on this matter:

John 14:6 Jesus said to him, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life; no one comes to the Father but through Me. (NASB).

Jesus didn't say that faith in Him was "one" way to eternal life; he said He was "THE way." in the last part of the verse, Jesus was even more explicit - staying unequivocally that no one can come to the Heavenly Father in any other way.

Have you chosen the one and only route to eternal salvation? If not, and you are interested, feel free to write myself, or any of us at webservants/cfdevotionals ministries.
