2012-01-16 - What Would Peter Say?
But Peter kept on knocking, and when they opened the door and saw him, they were astonished. (Acts 12:16)
I was in prison because of my association with the church. I was chained with a soldier on each side of me, and grateful people were praying for my safe return. Authorities believe I was a fearful criminal that would escape at any moment, instead of the innocent man that I am.
The night before my execution, I woke up to a bright light and heard an angelic voice, which told me to quickly get up and get my shoes. Immediately the chains fell off my wrists. I thought I was dreaming, and followed the sound of the saintly voice. When I was outside the prison and the angel was gone, it hit me. This wasn't a dream. It was a spiritual intervention.
I went to Mary's home, the mother of John Mark. There was a prayer meeting going on at her place. I kept knocking and knocking. It seemed like forever until I was welcomed inside. I admit I was a little nervous, waiting outside in plain view, in case someone saw me.
Mary and her guests were so surprised and happy to see me. I told them the wonderful story how God brought me out of jail. How I praise God for not abandoning me in my hour of need.
Lord, Please help me to accept the reasons behind the things You do. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
