2012-01-28 - Jesus the King
We are all familiar with the time Jesus fed the five thousand with just five small barley loaves and two small fish. (John 6:1-15) Jesus turned this meager amount into a meal for a large group of his followers. After the hugh crowd had eaten, they recognized that a miracle had been performed by Jesus. They recognized Jesus as "the Prophet who is to come into the world." (John 6:14, NIV) Jesus knew that this large crowd wanted to crown him king. So Jesus then left them to be alone.
Jesus' followers wanted to make Him into an earthly King. They wished Jesus to lead their nation and free them from Roman rule. They wanted political freedom. Jesus, on the other hand, wanted to be Kin2012-01-28 - Jesus the King of their hearts. Jesus wanted to free them from their sins. Jesus wanted to be their Lord.
Today, we have the same situation. Jesus is asking to be the King and Lord of our lives. He wants us to ask Him in. Will we recognize His Kingship? Will we ask him in?
