2012-02-11 - Choices
In our hectic lives, we are faced with making numerous choices every day. Some choices are more important than others. For instance, choosing to marry or choosing a career is a bigger decision than choosing what clothes to wear or what to eat. There are some decisions that we give a lot of thought and prayer. And there are some decisions that we make without much thought.
In Deuteronomy 30:15-20, Moses was telling the Israelites that they needed to make a major choice. The people were on the verge of entering the Promised Land. Moses presented a choice to the nation of Israel. Moses told them that they could choose to obey God and prosper in the new land, or that they could choose to disobey God and face death and adversity. Moses said, "Choose life so that you and your descendants may live, love the Lord your God, obey Him, and remain faithful to Him. For He is your life, and He will prolong your life in the land the Lord swore to give to your fathers Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob." (Deut. 30:19-20, HCSB)
We are faced with a similar, life-changing choice today. Who will we follow? Who will we obey? God is calling on us to choose Him. We can turn to Him, and He will change our hearts. He will give us eternal life.
