2013-04-05 - Three Words
If you had to choose three words to encompass as much of the Bible as possible, what three words would you use? Some might say love, grace, and mercy. Others might say, God loves you. Today I want to give you the three words that I find over and over in the Bible.
Worship. Repent. Serve.
Now let me define the words just a bit for you.
Worship - Glorify the one true God, our creator.
I would like for you to dwell on these words and process them on your own so I will be brief in giving a couple examples, one from both the Old and New Testament.
In Isaiah 6, Isaiah sees God and worships him. Then he recognizes his sinfulness and repents. Lastly, he tells God he is ready to serve with the oft quoted phrase, Here am I Lord, send me.
In Luke 15, Jesus tells the story of a man with two sons. One runs off and lives a life of sin. He realizes that isnt what is good in life. He worships the life he had with a good father back home. He decides to return to the father and repent of ever leaving. He desires to serve in the fathers house but in asking to be a servant he is restored as a son.
