2014-08-16 - Faith
In the fourth chapter of the Gospel of John, we find the account of the second miracle performed by Jesus. A royal official aproached Jesus, and begged him to heal his gravely ill son. Jesus said, "Unless you people see miraculous signs and wonders, you will never believe." (John 4:48) The official again asked Jesus to come heal his child. Jesus then told the official that his son would live. John tells us that "the man took Jesus at His word and departed." (verse 50)
The royal official believed Jesus' words. He showed his faith in Jesus, by trusting Jesus, without seeing the results.
Isn't that what faith is all about? We trust in Jesus. We take Him at His word. Hebrews 11:1 says that faith is "being sure of what we hope for, and certain of what we do not see." The royal official showed his faith in Jesus. Do we put our faith in Him today? Do we take Him at His word?
