2014-11-01 - Be Ready
Luke 12:35 "Be dressed ready for service and keep you lamps burning..."
In these verses in the Gospel of Luke, Jesus was telling His Disciples and followers to be ready. Life seldom goes as we expect it. Cars break down. Water heaters burst and flood your house. The doctor tells you that you need immediate surgery. In life, we are frequently told to expect the unexpected. Jesus wants us to be ready for the unexpected, too. We may face ridicule or persecution for our beliefs. We may be called to perform some service for our church. We may need to provide Christian leadership. We may have an opportunity to tell someone else what Jesus means in our lives. Some day, Jesus will return.
Will we be ready?
Staying ready means staying close to Jesus. We stay close to Him by talking to Him and studying His Word, by worshipping Him regularly, by listening to the Holy Spirit's guidance, and by relying on Him.
Are you ready?
