2014-12-27 - The Present You Don't Have to Return
John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life."
The day after Christmas is the second busiest day of the year, for retailers. Why is the day after all the presents are given to friends and relatives so busy? It is because people are returning and exchanging gifts that they do not want. People don't get exactly what they hoped for, so they take it back to the store, for something they think is better.
At Christmas, we celebrate the birth of Jesus — our gift from God. Jesus is the perfect gift — which we never have to exchange or return. He came in the flesh, to die for our sins. Without Jesus, we are dead in our sins. We are still lost. Jesus is the gift that is past, present, and future. He loved us in the past, by coming into our sinful world. He loves us presently, every day, by walking with us. He has prepared a future place for us in Heaven, where we will live forever.
Embrace Jesus — the gift from God.
