Passages About Justice
On this day, people around the world commemorate the Christ-following life of Martin
Luther King, Jr., who sought justice, and preached and lived a life of love and peace.
In that vein, for today's devotional, we present passages regarding justice.
This verse seemed to be a personal favorite of the pastor:
Amos 5:24 (RSV) But let justice roll down like waters,
and righteousness like an everflowing stream.
Other Justice-related Passages
Isaiah 61:8 (NIV) For I the Lord love justice, I hate robbery and wrongdoing;
I will faithfully give them their recompense, and I will make an everlasting covenant with them
Micah 6:8 He has told you, O man, what is good;
And what does the Lord require of you
But to do justice, to love kindness,
And to walk humbly with your God?
Psa 28:8 (NIV)
The evil do not understand justice, but those who seek the Lord understand it completely.
Psa 82:2-4 (NIV)
How long will you defend the unjust
and show partiality to the wicked?
Defend the weak and the fatherless;
uphold the cause of the poor and the oppressed.
Rescue the weak and the needy;
deliver them from the hand of the wicked.
106:3 (NIV) Blessed are they who maintain justice, who constantly do what is right.
