[CF Devotionals] 2015-02-06 - Just Do It

- - - - - - -

Imagine my son, with a friend over for the day. If the friend stated that he was thirsty or hungry, my son would naturally come to me right away, and ask for some cold drinks.

I don't think either of my boys would hesitate to ask me for something, if a friend was over and needed it. It would be absurd to think he'd say that he'd add it to a list of things to talk to me about later.

But don't we do that with God? Prayer is a conversation with God. It should be like a dad and child. It should come naturally and immediately.

Pray continually… Do not quench the Spirit. (1 Thessalonians 5:17,19)

I urge, then, first of all, that petitions, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for all people – for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness. This is good, and pleases God our Savior, (1 Timothy 2:1-3)

The next time a friend has a need, don't just say, "I'll be praying for you." Instead say, "Let's pray now."

Let the Holy Spirit go to work right away. You may just be surprised to see how quickly he answers, as just your words may be the ones the friend-in-need needs to hear.
