2015-05-30 - Be Strong
Psalm 31:24--"Be strong and take heart, all you who hope in the Lord."
David went through many ups and downs, in his journey with the Lord. David was called by God to lead the nation of Israel. But before he would became king, David was assailed by King Saul, who chased him and tried to kill him. David hid out in caves, to escape Saul. After Saul died, David was made king. David enjoyed God's favor and ruled the nation of Israel. But David was not perfect, and he committed sins which drew God's punishment. David's rule was not without troubles, either. David's advisers and sons plotted to overthrow him. As David grew older, and looked back on his life, he realized that his hope was in God. David relied on God to help him through the tough times in his life. David's advice to those who hope in God is to "Be strong and take heart."
Just like David, our lives have highs and lows. We have good days and bad days. We face illness, job loss, and the loss of loved ones. And like David, we can "be strong and take heart," because we can put our hopes in the Lord.
