[CF Devotionals] 2015-07-13 - What Would a Christian Say?

- - - - - - -

We've all done it. We don't mean to, but we fail to thank God. We ask God for something, He answers our request, and we're on our way to the next thing - until we need Him again. We neglect to praise His marvelous name. Stopping to glorify God is a good thing.

Why praise? It’s in our DNA. Let everything that has breath praise the Lord." (Psalm 150:6 NKVJ) The book of Psalms offers more reasons such as:

  • His deliverance from enemies (Psalm 59)
  • His salvation and judgement (Psalm 98)
  • His forgiveness of sins, healing, protection, love, justice, and strength (Psalm 103:1-6)
  • His faithfulness and justice (Psalm 111)
  • His might and mercy (Psalm 113)
  • His attributes, abilities, and blessings (Psalm 116)
  • His goodness and making creation (Psalm 136:5-9)

Being thankful impacts our life. Not only should we praise God; we should show appreciation to others. It is more than good manners. It’s a way to bring happiness to our Heavenly Father. May we want to show Him appreciation for the times He looks out for us.

Lord, I thank You for Your presence in my life. I take this moment to stop. I stop thinking about the responsibilities of the day and my needs, and thank You for what You do for me and what You have planned for me. Thank You for loving me and continuing to bless me, even when I fail to acknowledge it. Thank You for Your holiness and constant protection and care. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
