[Calvary Chapel] 2015-08-13 - Prayer Priority

- - - - - - -

Luke 6:12 It was at this time that He went off to the mountain to pray, and He spent the whole night in prayer to God.

Last night we received news of a terrible loss. It is the kind of thing that would be difficult under normal circumstances, but this was not normal. The thing that impressed me deeply was the person suffering the loss immediately turned to Jesus in prayer for themselves and their family. This person connected to the protection and power of their Savior without hesitation.

Over the last week my devotionals have been focused on prayer from historical points in time. The results of some of these events have been so moving and powerful. We have the example of Jesus Himself spending the night in prayer before choosing the twelve disciples. On the days that I spend time to give over the events of my day in prayer at the start that day goes much smoother.

We are told to pray constantly (2 Timothy 1:3). Over the last several months I have been impressed often that talking to God in prayer and being far more aware of His influence in daily events is critical. I know there are true warriors out there who live constantly in this mindset. I share this with anyone who feels the same way as an encouragement, and with those who have a strong prayer life to be an encourager to their brothers and sisters in Christ who are making this effort of making prayer a priority.
