2015-10-05 - What Would Joshua Say?
Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the LORD thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest. Joshua 1:9 KJV
Moses, my mentor, was dead. As his assistant, it was left up to me to bring the children of Israel into their promised land. The task was momentous. God believed I could lead the people, and after listening to His cheering words, so did I. All my doubts melted away. God declared that no man would be a match for me. God did not leave or forsake me.
God's pep talk included that I would be strong and extremely courageous. I'd be acting as God’s ambassador, to give the land of Israel to the people. The Lord also gave me some mandates. I was to observe and obey the law as Moses commanded, and to meditate on God’s words day and night. Then I would prosper, everywhere I went. Imagine always being successful, and never having to worry. What confidence God has in us, His children. If we follow God’s plan, there is no way we can lose.
As long as we live for God, He will be with us, just as He was with Moses and with me. How blessed and honored to be chosen by God. Fear, worry, and indecision have no place in our lives. He knows my nature better than anyone alive.
I am all too aware that fear likes to pop up its ugly head and tell me lies so I won’t try or I act defeated. God is telling me not to be dismayed. Fear won’t have a chance to get a foothold in my life. How can it when God promises to be with me wherever I go.
Lord, The real reason behind my prosperity and success is You. I am eternally grateful. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
