2015-10-31 - God's Plan
After the nations of Israel and Judah were led into exile, the people longed to return to the Promised Land. God spoke to the prophet Haggai, telling him that the time to rebuild the Temple had come. Haggai and the priests approached King Darius of Persia, with the request to return to Jerusalem to rebuild the Temple. King Darius approved of the plan, and allowed the people to return, to begin construction of the Temple.
The people faced struggles, in their efforts to rebuild the Temple. Other peoples had moved into their land and had resisted their attempts to rebuild it. The opposition was so great, that work was stopped for several years. But God's plan for the people of Israel was for His Temple to be rebuilt, and no one could stop His plan. Ezra 6:14 says, "They finished building the temple, according to the command of the God of Israel and the decrees of Cyrus, Darius and Artaxerxes, kings of Persia." God used the kings of Persia to accomplish His plan. The people of Israel, led by several men such as Nehemiah and Ezra, achieved their goal and God's plan.
God has a plan for our lives, and He wants us to follow that plan. The first step is to accept His Son, Jesus Christ, as our Savior. His instructions on daily living are found in the Scriptures, which explain the plan. We can see how, over the years, people have listened to God and followed His plans. We also have the Holy Spirit, to explain God's plan to us. Are you part of God's plan? If so, have you shared God's plan with others?
