Zechariah 4:6 --"This is the word of the Lord to Zerubbabel: 'Not by might nor by power, but by my Spirit,' says the LORD Almighty."

When the exiles returned to the Jerusalem, they struggled to rebuild God's Temple. The prophets Haggai and Zechariah both encouraged them to accomplish this daunting task. Through these two men, God sent word to the people of Israel that He would help them in their endeavors. God used Joshua the priest and Zerubbabel the governor to lead the people in the construction of the Temple.

God told the people that it was not by their might or power that they would accomplish rebuilding the Temple. God's Spirit would be their strength. The seemingly impossible task would be made possible by God's guidance and instruction. The Temple would indeed be rebuilt.

Today, God calls us to perform tasks that seem impossible. We are called to teach Sunday School, make a commitment to practice every week so we can sing in the choir, to lead worship, to preach the Word, to help the poor, and to spread the Good News. By ourselves, we wonder how we can possibly accomplish these assignments. We don't have to worry. With His Spirit which dwells inside of us ,God provides us strength and guidance.

What is God calling you to do?
