2016-02-15 - What would the Woman at the Well Say?
They said to the woman, “We no longer believe just because of what you said; now we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this man really is the Savior of the world.” (John 4:42 NIV)
I don't like living out of wedlock. I don't. After three times I have become disenchanted with the sanctity of marriage. To be brutally honest, it's the move on part that trips me up. How can I get a fresh start when I'm reminded of my past everywhere I go?
I hate to collect water at the well. I feel embarrassed when I see the other 'proper' women there. I feel ashamed of what my life has become.
Then I met a man at the well and my life was dramatically changed. It wasn't just talking to this man Jesus, but believing what He said that has made the difference. To think, I spoke with the Messiah called Christ. It's unbelievable!
Jesus talked to me despite my background, who I was, and what I have done. For the first time in awhile I was genuinely happy and visibly changed. My first priority wasn't my thirst or avoiding people but to tell others what Jesus did for me and what He can do for them.
Lord, Show me how to win this battle. I don't want to live in shame anymore. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
