2016-10-10 - Clean Your Room!
The concept of putting something away is foreign to my daughter's young mind, and so I remind her when she is done playing, to put things away. And still this one doll, left on the floor, continues to smile at me.
Failing to keep one's room tidy is part of childhood. I suffered through it, as my daughter does now. No family is immune to mess. A child's definition of a clean room is often opposite of a parent's.
Likewise, God's perspective is different than ours. As a Heavenly parent, God says, “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts." (Isaiah 55:8-9)
So, what are we to do with this knowledge? To give up would be the easiest solution. What if we accepted our differences? A parent should look out for their offspring. God will continue to point us, His kids, in His direction when we follow the wrong path. As Earthly parents, we should still instill neatness. However, it wouldn't hurt to exercise caution, when walking in messy rooms!
Lord, When I go off course, please tell me. You know, better than me, what's right. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
