2016-10-22 - Priorities
Ezra 3:3 Despite their fear of the peoples around them, they built the altar on its foundation and sacrificed burnt offerings on it to the LORD, both the morning and evening sacrifices.
When the Israelites returned from exile, their homeland was in shambles. The city walls were crumbling, and their homes had been destroyed. Their to-do list must have been very long.
What was their first priority? The Book of Ezra tells us that they rebuilt the altar, so that they could worship God with their sacrifices. The people recognized the importance of reestablishing their relationship with God.
In today's busy world, what are our priorities? Do we take time to worship God? Do we put our efforts into a relationship with God? Where is your altar?
