2017-03-18 - Answering God's Call
The Bible is full of examples of God calling people to do something for Him. Moses is summoned by a burning bush, and God tells Moses that he is to speak to the Pharaoh on God's behalf. Jonah, the reluctant prophet, is told by God to go proclaim a message of repentance to the people of Nineveh. Jeremiah is called to speak the truth to the nation of Judah. All three of these examples had one thing in common--they expressed their doubts about their abilities. Moses went so far as to ask God to send someone else. Jonah ran from God and ended up inside a whale. Jeremiah said, "I do not know how to speak." (Jeremiah 1:6)
God provided the resources to each of these three men, to help them accomplish their appointed tasks. God sent Aaron, along with Moses, to confront the Pharaoh. God found Jonah inside the whale, and gave him the courage to preach to the Ninevites. God reached out and touched Jeremiah's mouth and put His word into him.
What is God calling you to do today? What is your hesitation to follow His beckoning? It is not wrong to have doubts about your abilities. But just as in Biblical times, God will provide you with the resources and courage to accomplish what He is calling you to do. Will you follow His call?
