2017-04-22 - Good Friday ~ After Easter
Before his arrest and crucifixion, Jesus tried to prepare His disciples for what would happen to Him. In the sixteenth chapter of the Gospel of John, Jesus explained to His followers that He was going to leave them soon. Jesus also told them that they would face opposition after He left them. We now know that Jesus was preparing them for His death, resurrection, and ascension into Heaven. Jesus wanted His disciples to continue His work, after the Easter miracle.
The Book of Acts tells us how the disciples did carry on Jesus' work. They preached to groups of people, healed the sick, gathered for prayer and worship. This small group of followers grew into the Christian church. Now that the celebration of Easter is over, how have we responded to Jesus' death and resurrection? Have we gone back to our normal daily routines? Have we put our Easter decorations away?
The miracle of Easter lives in our hearts all year long. Like the early disciples and believers, we are called to share it with others.
