2017-05-13 - Good Fruit
Luke 6:43-44 No good tree bears bad fruit, nor does a bad tree bear good fruit. Each is recognized by its own fruit.
In Luke 6:43-45, Jesus compares his followers to fruit trees. He was encouraging his listeners to take what he was saying and put it into practice. Before this passage, Jesus had instructed his listeners to love each other, and not to judge one another. Jesus wanted his new disciples to take his words to heart and act upon them.
Today we have Jesus' words of instruction in the Bible. We hear sermons in our churches. The Holy Spirit guides us in what is right and wrong. We know what is expected of us, but do we put it into practice? Are we bearing good fruit? Are we showing the love of Christ through our thoughts and actions?
What kind of fruit are you bearing today?
