2017-10-14 - What is Your Part?
1 Corinthians 12:12 The body is a unit, though it is made up of many parts; and though all its parts are many, they form one body. So it is with Christ.
In the book of Corinthians, Paul uses a comparison of the human body to the body of Christ. Each part of the body is important. As I was reminded last year when I had Guillain-Barre Syndrome, if your hands don't function, then you can't feed yourself and when you can again, you drop things. If your feet and legs don't work, you can't walk, as I also experienced. If your ears fail, you cannot hear. All the individual parts of your body work together, to enable you to perform your daily tasks.
Paul compares the church to the human body. Each of us has a role in the body of Christ. Some are preachers, teachers, and administrators. Some of us are ushers, greeters, and custodians. Others pray, sing, play the piano, and lead worship. Each of us has a part in the body of Christ, and each of us is important. What part are you performing? What is God calling you to do today?
