2018-02-03 - God's Requirements
John 6:28-29 Then they asked him, "What must we do to do the works God requires?" Jesus answered, The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent."
I am working to renew my driver's license. Because of the discovery of fake licenses manufactured by DMV workers now fired, for illegal aliens, states have instituted new rules. Our state has sent me a list of documents and papers that I must bring to the driver's license office. As a result, I have had to send off for a certified copy of my birth certificate, obtain documents with my social security number on them, and collect papers with my name and address on them to prove my place of residence. I am having to work to prove who I am, so that I can renew my license and continue driving, in spite of the fact I have never had any tickets at all. The rules apply to both the innocent and the guilty.
What does God require? What tasks must we accomplish to satisfy Him? How many good works are needed to earn citizenship in God's kingdom? Jesus answered this question for a crowd of followers. Jesus said, "The work of God is this: to believe in the one he has sent.” God’s requirements are simple. He doesn't have a list of requirements that we must check off to satisfy Him. We don't have to provide anything but our faith. We are "to believe in the one he has sent"--Jesus.
Have you put your faith in the one God has sent?
