We are to be thankful in the negatives.
Really? How? That seems impossible, but if we stand on the belief that God works things out for our good, painful and unfair things are included. “And we know that for those who love God, all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.” (Romans 8:28 ESV)
I want God to swoop in, show His love, and save me. I also want God to move mountains in my favor, because I know He can. The Lord can break bondages and right difficult situations.
When the mountain doesn’t move, I question God's reasoning. It doesn’t mean God doesn’t love me, just that He is protecting me. I may not get the answer I want, but at least I may know what His will is. Ultimately, the Lord knows best.
The apostle Paul tells us in Colossians 3 to be thankful. “Let the peace of Christ rule in your hearts, since as members of one body you were called to peace. And be thankful. Let the message of Christ dwell among you richly as you teach and admonish one another with all wisdom through psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit, singing to God with gratitude in your hearts. And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.” (verses 15-17 NIV)
Lord, Help the pessimistic side of me. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
