Matthew 4:19 "Come, follow Me," Jesus said. (NV)

After Jesus was tempted in the desert, He began His ministry by preaching and teaching. One day, as He was walking by the Sea of Galilee, He saw two fishermen casting their nets. Jesus called to them, saying, "Come, follow Me." Simon Peter and Andrew got up and immediately followed Jesus. They didn't hesitate or delay. They didn't make excuses.

They left their nets and went with Jesus.Sometimes God moves us out into new situations, like a missionary going overseas. Sometimes, though, God calls us to follow Him right where we are, at our present job or school or neighborhood. Our first Atlanta church had a sign that we liked. As you left the garage and drove onto the street, the sign said “you are now entering the mission field."

How do we respond to the call of Jesus today? Do we hesitate or find reasons we can't (don't have time, too shy, someone else does it better)? What is He calling us to do? As we enter the new year, we can listen for Jesus' words. What is He calling us to do for His Kingdom? How can we serve him in 2019?
