2019-02-03 - Exodus ~ The Quality of Faith
The Parting of the Sea
Well, here we are on the shores of the Red Sea. I hope you have your cameras ready, because you're only going to get one chance to take pictures. Now the Angel of the Lord stands between the camp of Israel and that of Egypt. As we have said many times before, the Angel of the Lord is the preincarnate Christ, and so it is that God Himself stands between the two camps. The cloud may have been the pillar of fire, for we are told there was light in the midst of the darkness, and so God kept the nation safe through the night.
The next morning, Moses leads the people up to the edge of the Sea, and raises the staff. God then sends a great wind that parts the waters and dries out the land, allowing the people to cross safely and in comfort. All kidding aside, this is a great scene in the Ten Commandments, because it pictures the people looking up apprehensively at these great walls of water on either side. I suspect that no matter how much one trusted in God, one would still be nervous in the awesome situation.
