“Ethical behavior is doing the right thing when no one else is watching, even when doing the wrong thing is legal.“–Aldo Leopoldo
Remember, it is sin to know what you ought to do and then not do it. James 4:17 (NLT)
We spend most of our days around others. We watch what we do and say, when our behavior is being observed by someone else. How do we act when no one else is looking? Do we act the same way?
When I was training to be an air traffic controller, I was taught to always use correct procedures even when everything was slow and normal. Because when things get hectic, and you have to act quickly, you fall back on your habits. Hopefully, you have developed good habits to fall back upon.
As Christians, how do we develop good ethical habits today, that we can fall back upon in stressful situations? By studying and following God’s Word. By obeying God’s commandments. By doing what is right, even when no one else is there. Of course, God is always there. He sees us when no one else does. Are our actions pleasing to God?
