2019-04-13 - Your Darkest Hour
Psalm 46:1 God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. (NIV)
As accurately depicted in the 2017 movie Darkest Hour, early during World War II, Great Britain stood alone against the German military forces. The nation faced a probable invasion. The British nation needed a strong leader to guide them through the pending fight. At this crucial moment, they chose Winston Churchill to be their Prime Minister. For the next five years, Prime Minister Churchill guided England through some very rough times. The future of the country was in doubt, but with Churchill's leadership, Great Britain survived.
What dark hours are you facing? What is keeping you awake at night, causing anxiety or depression? Are you dealing with a serious illness, loss of job, financial difficulty, or the loss of a loved one? Who do you turn to? Many people are there to help us--spouses, extended families, and friends. There is someone else that we can turn to, in our darkest hours--Jesus. After all, Jesus said,
"Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest." (Matthew 11:28, NIV)
Jesus can help you get through your darkest hour.
Next week, we will look at Jesus' own darkest hour, what is commonly known as Good Friday.
