2019-06-29 - Warning Lights
Hebrews 2:1 (NIV)—We must pay more careful attention, therefore to what we have heard, so that we do not drift away.
Recently, a warning light appeared on the dashboard of my truck. A little flashing red light was blinking. It looked like a tiny inflated airbag. I knew that something was amiss, and that I needed to investigate this warning light. So I scheduled a service appointment at the car dealership and was informed that my seatbelt was in need of replacement. In an accident, the seatbelt may have failed to restrain me. The warning light could have been a lifesaver for me.
What warning signs do we receive in our Christian lives? Do we feel guilty when we violate one of God’s commands? Do we feel bad when we fall behind on our daily Scripture reading? How do we feel, when we fail to keep a regular time of prayer?
As we go through our normal lives, God sends us warning signs when we need them. The Holy Spirit warns of areas of our lives that need attention. We need to notice the warning lights in our lives, and to respond appropriately.
