2020-02-08 - Storms
John 14:17 (NIV) And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and to be with you forever.
Today, while others were having Winter storms, our area experienced a series of storms with heavy rain, lightning fires and tornado warnings. The rain was so intense that water covered parts of our yard. As long as we can remember, we have occasionally had storms like this, and we know "all is well that ends well." Despite the adverse weather, birds continued to visit our bird feeders for their seed. They needed their daily sustenance despite the weather.
During our daily lives, we frequently experience different kinds of storms. Illnesses, job losses, and natural disasters such as the recent Cuban - Jamaican earthquake affect us at some point in our lives. These events may cause us pain, suffering, and doubts. During these times, we need sustenance to keep us going, and as believers, we can turn to our Savior for strength and courage. Jesus promised that He would be with us and would send the Holy Spirit to help us during the hard times. Sometimes we turn to our fellow Christians for help, too.
How are you handling your storms? Are you trying to make it on your own? Are you finding sustenance from our Savior?
