2020-09-03 - For Prayer and Consideration
2 Timothy 1:14-16 14 Guard, through the Holy Spirit who dwells in us, the treasure which has been entrusted to you. 15 You are aware of the fact that all who are in Asia turned away from me, among whom are Phygelus and Hermogenes. 16 The Lord grant mercy to the house of Onesiphorus, for he often refreshed me and was not ashamed of my chains;
My Pastor recently shared his sermon with us covering some of the foolish actions of the Hebrew Kings did to keep their kingdoms during the time that the nation was split into two kingdoms. Judah and Israel. If you want to look at some of their actions look up Jeroboam and King Solomon at the same time.
America as a nation has walked away from God in many ways. The most recent statistic that stunned me was that the majority of Americans no longer believe Jesus is the path to salvation and instead believe that being a good person is sufficient. Jesus Himself said I am the way, the truth and the life. That has never changed. What changes it is a person thinking they know better or otherwise denying the Lord, turning their backs on their Savior.
In China recently 900 crosses at the top of church buildings are being removed by their government. How often have symbols like a Nativity scene been removed from public grounds? Recently a state official put west issued an edict that churches could not have singing or chanting. The church sued on the grounds of freedom of speech and won.
There are times like this when we as a people of faith are winning. There are still many struggles to be taken on in order to keep our faith and our freedoms intact. There are many more points to share. I'm running a little late tonight, so I start with these few items. I hope next week to have something better organized and full of things to think about and share with friends for you.
Considering what is happening and being on our knees in prayer with Jesus seeking guidance are great places to be. Thank you for your prayers this week.
Grace & Peace,
