2020-09-12 - Who Cares? God is
"Live under the protection of God Most High and stay in the shadow of God All-Powerful." (Psalm 91:1 CEV)
Sunset stalks her feline sister, ready to attack. It is the instinct of a cat, but it's hard to watch her fearful feline foe. So I walk closely to Sunset, and she changes her intentions and trots off to another room. I feel relieved and satisfied that I was able to protect our other cat.
God protects us just as we care for our loved ones, whether those with two or four feet. He sweeps down and God protects us from our enemies; they, too, have to slink away.
Psalm 91 describes in detail how God is our fortress and safety. This psalm lists seven specific items God protects His children from: secret traps and deadly diseases (verses 3), dangers at night, (verses 5-6), disasters, (verse 10), problems (verse 11), stumbling, (verse 12), and evil (verse 13).
These facts lift the weight of the day's demands a little. The verses reminded me I have a Father to go to, Who won't let me down when trouble finds me. God is the answer, He is safe. The Lord is the one protecting you and me.
Lord, you are my place of safety and protection. I trust You, and I am safe. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.
