2020-09-14 - Pleasant Living, So Long
The last time I was on Pleasant Street was in middle school. I made a mental note of each room in my childhood home, and these images still impact me as an adult. It was a house full of loneliness, disappointments, and embarrassments, but I was still nostalgic for its cool forts, calming scenery, and famous neighbors. Even though we may not realize it, the Lord is available when we need a breakthrough. He is quieter than our biased brains, which remind us of the past even when we don't ask for a reminder. We have to be just as loud as our minds and seek the Lord. He is the one who can break the hurtful perceptions from the past. The Lord is our rescuer. (Colossians 1:13) He also revives us and is a refuge. (Isaiah 57:15, Joel 3:16)
Lord, I need You. Rescue and revive me. I need an attitude adjustment, and I need to show joy and love to others. Be my refuge when I don't know what to do. In the name of Jesus, I humbly pray, Amen.
