[CF Devotionals] 2020-09-22 - My Wishes

- - - - - - -

When I was younger, I'd look forward to making a wish after blowing out my birthday candles. I recall wishing I would get a sibling, a brother or a sister. One year, I wished to find my new and lost spring jacket. These wishes, and many like them, never came true. That did not stop me from thinking of a new wish, every year.

These days, I rarely have a birthday cake, but if I made a birthday wish, the desire would be more Biblically based. It would look very similar to these prayers below.

May my mourning turn to gladness. (Jeremiah 31:3)

May I turn from worthless things. (Psalm 110:37)

May children listen to their parents' instruction. (Proverbs 1:8, Ephesians 6:2 (NLT)

May our nation not be foolish and run away from learning. (Proverbs 1:7)

What would you wish?
