[PC-USA] 1998-07-12 - Emotional Peace

Sometimes our emotions are like roller-coasters. But God intends for us to be at rest, not to have extreme swings of highs and lows. Today we will look at some verses that remind us that God intends us to have peace and rest.

(Psa 37:7 NKJV) Rest in the LORD, and wait patiently for Him; Do not fret because of him who prospers in his way, Because of the man who brings wicked schemes to pass.

(Psa 91:1 NIV) He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.

(Jer 6:16 NIV) This is what the LORD says: "Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls. But you said, 'We will not walk in it.

(Mat 11:28-30 NNAS) Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and YOU WILL FIND REST FOR YOUR SOULS. 30 For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.

(Psa 23:1-3 NNAS) The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not want. 2 He makes me lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside quiet waters. 3 He restores my soul; He guides me in the paths of righteousness For His name's sake.

(Psa 62:1 NIV) For the director of music. For Jeduthun. A psalm of David. My soul finds rest in God alone; my salvation comes from him.

(Exo 33:14 NIV) The LORD replied, "My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest."

(John 14:27 NIV) Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.
