1999-02-07 - Prayer
As God's children, we are to offer up many kinds of prayers - confession,
praise, adoration, seeking God's face, petition, intercession - both as
individuals and in our local churches. Here is some of what God's written
word has to say about prayer, including some examples.
Eph 6:18 (NIV) And pray in the Spirit on all occasions
with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert
and always keep on praying for all the saints.
1 John 1:9 (NIV) If we confess our sins, he is
faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all
Psa 22:25 (NNAS)From You comes my praise in the great
assembly; I shall pay my vows before those who fear Him.
1 Tim 2:1-4 (NNAS) First of all, then, I urge that entreaties
and prayers, petitions and thanksgivings, be made on behalf of all men,
for kings and all who are in authority, so that we may lead a tranquil and
quiet life in all godliness and dignity. This is good and acceptable in the
sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the
knowledge of the truth.
Psa 62:8 (NNAS) Trust in Him at all times, O people; Pour
out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us.
1 Pet 3:7 (NNAS) You husbands in the same way, live with
your wives in an understanding way, as with someone weaker, since she is
a woman; and show her honor as a fellow heir of the grace of life, so that
your prayers will not be hindered.
Acts 10:4 (NNAS) And fixing his gaze on him and being
much alarmed, he said, "What is it, Lord?" And he said to him, "Your prayers
and alms have ascended as a memorial before God.
Psa 8:1 (NNAS) O LORD, our Lord, How majestic is Your
name in all the earth, Who have displayed Your splendor above the

to me; Heal my soul, for I have sinned against You."
