I Jn 2:15-17 Do not love the world, nor the things in
the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.
16 For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh and the lust of the
eyes and the boastful pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from
the world. 17 And the world is passing away, and also its
lusts; but the one who does the will of God abides forever. (NAS)
Ps 32:2-5 How blessed is the man to whom the LORD does
not impute iniquity, and in whose spirit there is no deceit!
3 When I kept silent about my sin my body wasted away through
my groaning all day long. 4 For day and night Thy hand was
heavy upon me; My vitality was drained away as with the fever heat of summer.
Selah. 5 I acknowledged my sin to Thee, and my iniquity I
did not hide; I said, "I will confess my transgressions to the LORD"; and
Thou didst forgive the guilt of my sin. Selah. (NAS)
Rom 7:21-25 I find then the principle that evil is present
in me, the one who wishes to do good. 22 For I joyfully concur
with the law of God in the inner man, 23 but I see a different
law in the members of my body, waging war against the law of my mind, and
making me a prisoner of the law of sin which is in my members.
24 Wretched man that I am! Who will set me free from the
body of this death? 25 Thanks be to God through Jesus Christ
our Lord! So then, on the one hand I myself with my mind am serving the law
of God, but on the other, with my flesh the law of sin. (NAS)
1 Cor 9:25-27 And everyone who competes in the games
exercises self-control in all things. They then do it to receive a perishable
wreath, but we an imperishable. 26 Therefore I run in such
a way, as not without aim; I box in such a way, as not beating the air;
27 but I buffet my body and make it my slave, lest possibly,
after I have preached to others, I myself should be disqualified. (NAS)
1 Cor 13:3 And if I give all my possessions to feed the
poor, and if I deliver my body to be burned, but do not have love, it profits
me nothing. (NAS)
Gal 6:17 From now on let no one cause trouble for me,
for I bear on my body the brand-marks of Jesus. (NAS)
Phil 1:19-21 For I know that this shall turn out for
my deliverance through your prayers and the provision of the Spirit of Jesus
Christ, 20 according to my earnest expectation and hope,
that I shall not be put to shame in anything, but that with all boldness,
Christ shall even now, as always, be exalted in my body, whether by life
or by death. 21 For to me, to live is Christ, and to die
is gain. (NAS)
