The Jesus the Carpenter - His Address Series, Part 2

Hello Friends,

I pray everyone had a good Christmas and the New Year of Our Lord.

We are beginning our search together for the address of Jesus the Carpenter, known as the Christ. If you recall last time in this series, we found that you can be identified as an individual through an address. And I said that God wrote an address to identify His Son Jesus Christ, with great detail, and He did it through prophecy.

There are approximately 300 prophecies written in the Old Testament, which are all fulfilled in Jesus Christ alone.

The first one is in Genesis 3:15. The stage is right after the fall of man. Here, God is speaking to Satan in the Garden of Eden, after Eve told God that the serpent had misled her.

Genesis Chapter 3, Verse 15 "And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your offspring and hers; he will crush your head and you will strike his heel."

I feel that some scholars overlook the underlying importance of this verse. Many prophets speak throughout the Bible, and they are speaking for God. In this case, the author and prophet Moses is conveying what God Himself said to Satan (without a prophet), while standing in front of man.

Many years ago, the American brokerage firm EF Hutton produced a television commercial whose punch line was "When EF Hutton talks, people listen". Well when God talks, we need to listen. I say this because I know that God cares about each and everyone of us, and He does nothing without purpose or plan.

God says I will put enmity between Satan and the woman, and between Satan's offspring and the woman's offspring.

This "enmity" described in the first part of the sentence then changes from the word enmity to a description of a person, namely "he" and a description of what "he" will do to Satan and what Satan will do to him.

It gives a good diagnosis of who is stronger Satan or "he".

Now going back to the middle of the sentence, concerning Satan's offspring and the woman's offspring: It is important to note that no person in the Bible was ever considered to be the offspring of a woman. They were the offspring of a man. Only the man produces the seed for a lineage of life of offspring. The woman only produces an egg, which would be fertilized by the sperm of a man. In this case, however, this is the offspring of a woman.

It is to this information that a foundation is found that addresses a person, who will be born of a virgin. And to the fact that at the beginning of the sentence, God says, "I will put enmity" or paraphrased "I will put him." Therefore it was a divine conception, brought about by God, without a man's assistance.

Here is where the fulfillment of this prophecy takes place, in Mathew Chapter 1 verses 18-25

The Birth of Jesus Christ

This is how the birth of Jesus Christ came about: His mother Mary was pledged to be married to Joseph, but before they came together, she was found to be with child through the Holy Spirit. Because Joseph her husband was a righteous man, and did not want to expose her to public disgrace, he had in mind to divorce her quietly.

But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said, "Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins." All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet: "The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel" --which means, "God with us." When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife. But he had no union with her until she gave birth to a son. And he gave him the name Jesus.

We will continue with another prophecy next time, as we continue to identify the address of Jesus the Carpenter

God bless you, my friends.
