[CF Devotionals] 2013-09-18 - Pure Joy

Your CFDevotionals Staff is delighted to announce that one of our sub writers, Debbie, is joining our staff as a full-time writer! Starting this week, you can expect to be blessed by her work on most Tuesdays!

I have had the privilege of the company of our miniature dachshund, Barbie (that was her name when we found her, honest), for almost sixteen years. Over those years, I have learned many things from my averagely eight-pound canine friend. She lives her life from the purest form of joy I have ever known. As long as she can lie out in the sun on a nice day, take the occasional ride in the car, have the food she so goofily dances to receive, and be close to me - then all is well in her world. She's been my gentle reminder when I need it, with regard to the beauty of pure joy.

We can find ourselves so caught up in what we think we need to do, what someone else thinks we should do, or what we want to do - that the simplicity of life becomes obscure. Taking the time to think, pray, regroup, praise - and then to act on how the Spirit is leading, is a much more rewarding way to move through each day I am given. I am thankful for our little Barbie, to remind me of this when I need it. I don't know about you, but there are many days I need it.

(Philippians Chapter 4)
