2015-01-24 - Calming the Storm
In Mark 4:35-41, we find Mark's account of a boat trip across the Sea of Galilee that was made by Jesus and His Disciples. A furious storm comes upon them, nearly sinking their vessel. Alarmed by the danger, the Disciples decide to awaken the sleeping Jesus, who immediately calms the storm. Jesus then asks, "Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?" (Mark 4:40) Jesus challenged the Disciples to put their faith in God, who would protect them from the storm.
What about us today? What storms do we face in our lives? Illness, job loss, the loss of a loved one, and economic troubles are just a few of the storms in our lives. Jesus tells us to put our faith in Him. He will see us through the storms of life. Do you know the One who calms storms? Do you trust Him?
