[CF Devotionals] 2016-09-28 - Rough Waters

- - - - - - -

I’ve been working on the best plan to have time in the pool to relax, and get some exercise to ease back pain, while staying active. I’m finding that early morning, so I am finished by about 9:00am is best with my typical day. If I go four days and do a dozen laps in this particular pool size, it has me at my goal. However, I also must take into account the schedule of the pool, so that lately has me in the lane right next to the low-impact water aerobics class or the water Zumba class. Very often, I am finishing my laps about the time they have just gotten started, but occasionally there is an overlap (no pun intended this time!). The other day, there were about eighteen people in the low-impact water aerobics class, and as they got going, in my last couple laps I noticed it was sort of like being in a wave pool, as it got started as I approached that end of the pool. I found myself drifting over into the lane divider, doing my backstroke. So I adjusted and used stronger leg and arm strokes as I approached, and felt a little more confident I wasn’t going to run into anything.

Has life ever thrown you rough waters that affected your confidence in your current path? God’s word tells us it will happen. He doesn’t tell us that if it happens, we can count on Him, but he tells us when it happens, He has our backs, when we put our trust in Him. What a beautiful promise to hold on to, every morning we have breath in our lungs. It brings tears of joy to my eyes. Thank you Father!

“These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33)

“I will call on the Lord, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies. When the waves of death compassed me, the floods of ungodly men made me afraid; The sorrows of hell compassed me about; the snares of death prevented me; In my distress I called upon the Lord, and cried to my God: and he did hear my voice out of his temple, and my cry did enter into his ears.” (2 Samuel 22:4-7)
