2018-05-07 - Don't Give Up
Paul penned the letter to the Colossians while he was in prison. Paul wrote to a people he never met, to encourage them. He wanted them not to give up and stay true to Christ. As fellow Christ followers, we also can find encouragement through Paul's wisdom and prayers.
"So we have not stopped praying for you since we first heard about you. We ask God to give you complete knowledge of his will and to give you spiritual wisdom and understanding. Then the way you live will always honor and please the Lord, and your lives will produce every kind of good fruit. All the while, you will grow as you learn to know God better and better. We also pray that you will be strengthened with all his glorious power so you will have all the endurance and patience you need. May you be filled with joy, always thanking the Father. He has enabled you to share in the inheritance that belongs to his people, who live in the light. (Colossians 1:9-12 NLT)
Paul and fellow ministers had deep admiration for those living out the Christian walk. As readers of Colossians, we can take comfort in others’ prayers and remembering the deep love and mercy God has for us.
The Lord doesn’t see with human eyes or base things on human emotion, but He is in our mist. When we are on Earth experiencing great turmoil or heartache, “I will instruct you (says the Lord) and guide you along the best pathway for your life; I will advise you and watch your progress.” (Psalm 32:8 TLB)
Thank You Lord, for those who pray and may I be a witness of your unfailing love. In Jesus’ name I pray, Amen.
