2018-06-25 - Weighing In
Most people look forward to Fridays. It's the start of the weekend, and a break from most work and schedules. For me, Fridays are my day to step on the scale and get weighed. I admit some mornings, I am nervous what the scale will reveal. It is a time when I am held accountable for my food choices.
While I attempt to lose weight, my prayer time is more like a question and answer session. I ask and then hope and wait for the Lord, who does not respond quickly. What was taking so long? I needed a Godly desire to make and eat a salad, willpower to forgo a second helping of snacks, and to be less obsessed with counting calories.
I was letting my physical appearance define who I was, instead of relying on God, my creator and navigator. For the Lord keeps His word. When someone stumbles or falls, God gives us a helping hand. (Psalm 145:13-14)
When we need God, He is ready and available. "The Lord makes firm the steps of the one who delights in him; though he may stumble, he will not fall, for the Lord upholds him with his hand." (Psalm 37:23-24 NIV)
Lord, Help me kick impatience to the curb. I don't want to be defeated on this diet. Show me how to continue the battle, where I will experience Your victory. In the name of Jesus, Amen.
